September is one of the best months, not too cold, sun still shining and perfect for us to take our dogs out walking in the forests. Unfortunately however there are a few precautions we need to take apart from the usual that Yellow Dog owners usually take. It is of course the time for beautiful conkers and acorns, falling from the tree in abundance and something children love to collect, throw, kick and play with BUT beware!

These are very toxic to dogs, on the whole dogs don’t like the smell so wouldn’t eat, but as we all know a puppy could be different as they will chew anything . I wouldn’t have thought shoes smell amazing but puppies love chewing them!

Also though discourage anyone from throwing conkers or acorns for a dog to chase and pick up, it could still swallow them, stick to your ball! It is also worth always checking out your dogs paws and fur after a walk, leaves can still contain mites that we don’t want on our dog.

Rotting fruit in the garden should also be cleared up, dogs love chasing apples and will chase fresh or rotting! So best to pick them up before they get them!

A few autumn hints but above all have the best fun with your dogs in one of the best months of the year!  Happy Autumn!
